Care Guide

Every Tivorami garment is designed with specific fabrics, embellishments, and construction details that determine how it should be cared for. The care label sewn into your piece and the product page description are the authoritative sources for your item. The guidance below covers common situations across our formal and evening wear collection but does not replace those item-specific instructions.

Check Your Label Before Anything Else

Before wearing, cleaning, or storing a new piece, locate the care label inside the garment. It typically appears at the side seam or beneath the lining near the neckline. If the label is missing, illegible, or you cannot find one, reach out to us before attempting any cleaning process.

On the product page for your item, the description section notes fabric types and construction features such as lining, boning, or closure details. Use that information alongside the label to understand what your garment is made of and how its parts interact.

Protect Embellishments and Delicate Surfaces

Many Tivorami pieces feature beading, sequins, embroidery, lace overlays, tulle accents, or fringe elements. These details are applied by hand or machine and can loosen or snag under friction, pressure, or contact with rough surfaces.

  • Avoid leaning against textured walls, car interiors, or bag straps that rub directly against decorated areas.
  • When dressing or undressing, pull garments on over your head or through arms gently rather than tugging at embellished zones.
  • Keep jewelry, watch clasps, and bag hardware away from beaded or sequined panels to prevent catching.
  • Do not fold, press, or iron directly over raised embroidery, bead clusters, or tulle ruffles.

After Wearing: Simple Maintenance

Formal pieces do not need washing after every wear. After an event, hang the garment in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to let moisture from skin and the environment dissipate naturally. This helps prevent odors from setting into lining fabrics.

If a small spot appears from makeup, perfume, or food, blot it immediately with a clean, white, absorbent cloth using light pressure. Do not rub, as rubbing can push the substance deeper into fibers or disturb surface embellishments. For anything beyond a minor spot, stop and consult a professional cleaner experienced with embellished formal wear.

Storing Between Events

Proper storage preserves shape and prevents damage to structured elements like corset boning, padded shoulders, and sculpted ruffles.

  • Structured bodices and padded shoulders: Hang on a wide, padded hanger that supports the shoulder line without creating indentations. Avoid wire hangers.
  • Flowing skirts and chiffon panels: Allow the full length to hang freely so the fabric settles without creasing. If space is limited, fold loosely along natural seam lines and place tissue paper between folds.
  • Garments with fringe or tassels: Hang so fringe elements dangle without being compressed against a closet wall or other clothing.
  • General: Store in a breathable garment bag rather than sealed plastic, which traps moisture. Keep away from damp areas and prolonged direct sunlight that can fade dyes and weaken fibers over time.

When to Bring in a Professional

Heavily beaded gowns, lace overlay pieces, and garments with internal boning or structured corsetry benefit from cleaning by a specialist who works with formalwear. If your item has visible soil, an odor that does not clear after airing, or a damaged closure such as a zipper that catches, take it to a qualified cleaner rather than attempting home treatment.

When you bring a garment to a professional, share the care label information and point out any embellished or delicate zones so they can adjust their process accordingly.
